Set in the middle of one of the area’s best collection of gravel roads, not to mention the mountain biking trails of Blue Ridge School just down the hill, Stone Mountain must be visited. Stunning views off of the back patio, and an excellent baguette and olive tapenade, Stone Mountain rewards the long climb up with a needed respite before miles of fast downhill. After descending, follow out Bacon Hollow to Dyke and Maybelle’s offers a nice spot to refuel as well. Climbing up Simmons – Shifflett- Wyatt is a for-real climb and recommended if you lack climbing-friendly gearing. Climbing Brokenback Mountain Road is a touch tougher.
If you are driving…don’t go up Brokenback.
